Powerful sounds between trash and poetry, confronting you in a wild manner with some colorful thoughts. Always straight forward – without making a compromise. At the same time it’s almost too fragile. But then it’s still a puzzle, a mind map.
Mareike Voss (voc, tbn, comp), Eva Cottin (vl, comp) and Daniel Karelly (dr) met in Arnhem (NL) and set up a trio with an unconventional lineup. Stripping down a band to only vocals, violin and drums – now and then completed by trombone – creates a very specific band sound. Which opens up a lot of space for experiments. Their songs turn out to be an unpredictable poppy mixture, playing with cabaret, triphop, rock, chanson, march, breakbeat, jazz, folk and other roots.
